Fighting cybercrime and child sexual abuse using AI and digital forensics

This PhD project will shine a light on the victims depicted in online child sexual abuse material - aiming to generate new knowledge that will improve police practice. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to use a suite of advanced AI tools and analytical methods used by our team to identify patterns of victimisation, including who is being targeted, who is at greatest risk of repeat victimisation, and when and where offences occur across online environments. Drawing on restricted police data, the project will deliver actionable insights to help investigators prioritise cases and strengthen responses to this form of cybercrime.

Applicants from all areas of specialisation are welcome; however, those with experience in cybercrime, policing, machine learning (e.g., computer vision, biometrics, natural language processing), or social network analysis are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will receive a tuition fee waiver and receive a scholarship stipend commensurate with the Australian Government's RTP rates

This PhD Scholarship will be based at Adelaide University's City East Campus.
